Sesión Bosque Encantado…

Muchas veces la vida nos enseña que si realmente queremos algo, hay que superar el reto y hacer el esfuerzo necesario para conseguir aquello que deseamos. En los trabajos creativos casi siempre es así y para mí la sesión  de fotos que tenía planeada para el fin de semana pasado resultó ser uno de los retos más grandes de este año.

No teníamos claro si iba a ser el sábado o el domingo hasta unos días antes; Después de varias semanas de buen tiempo, el mismo día de la sesión llovió; Diez minutos después de anular la sesión, salió el sol…Y a última hora decidimos hacerla de nuevo…

Sin embargo a pesar del estrés, de tener la adrenalina a tope y de ser la primera sesión de retrato que he hecho con dos ayudantes a mi disposición (suelo trabajar sola y no estoy acostumbrada a delegar!), creo que al final todo salió bastante bien.

La idea inicial era una sesión creativa en la cual quería sacar fotos con mucha luz (tanto luz física como luz interior de la persona) y un toque etéreo demostrando la sutileza energética de los seres elementales (hadas, ninfas, duendes etc).

Aquí os dejo una primera muestra de las fotos que hice y a lo largo de esta semana y la siguiente voy a subir las demás.

If you really want something, life has this knack of testing you and making sure you go that extra mile to achieve what you want – And artist’s projects or works are no different! Take for example the session that I had planned for last weekend…

Up to a few days before it wasn’t clear whether the session was going to be on Saturday or Sunday; After weeks of lovely weather, it decided to rain on session day; We cancelled everything only to have the sun come out literally (!) 10 minutes after doing so…And with only an hour to go before the original meet time, we decided that everything was back on again…

Stressed and with large amounts of adrenaline coursing through our veins, the session somehow turned out ok – Not bad considering that it was the first portrait session I’d done with two assistants at my disposal (I’m used to working on my own and not delegating!). 

The initial idea for this session was to show a lot of light, both environmental and inner personal, with a hint of the ethereal and elemental (fairies, nymphs, elves etc). I wanted a natural magic to the images.

Here you have a small selection of some of the photos that I took. Over the coming week or so I’ll upload the rest.

12 x 2015: February

Hoy seguimos con mi proyecto personal ’12 x 2015′, donde elijo mi mejor foto de cada mes.

Febrero: Javier

La verdad es que hice muchas fotos en el mes de Febrero pero solamente llegué a publicar 3 de ellas (muy mal!). He elegido la foto de Javier porque en mi opinión esta foto es más ‘completa’ que la de Lucía. La combinación de la mirada, el pose y la luz crea un retrato potente.

Qué opináis vosotros? Cual de todas las foto que subí en el mes de Febrero os gusta más? Me encantaría saber vuestras opiniones! :-)

Today I’m going to continue with my personal project ’12 x 2015′ , where I choose my best image from each month. 

February: Javier

Inspite of only posting 3 pictures in February the truth is I took many! I just didn’t have the time to put them together for the blog. So, out of what I uploaded I choose this photo of Javier as I feel it’s more ‘complete’ than the one of Lucía. Everything seemed to come together for this photo: The model’s eyes, his pose and the light all work really well.

Uno de mis propósitos del año pasado era de elegir mi mejor foto de cada mes y subirla aquí al blog. Este proyecto personal lo llamaba ’12 x 2014′ y he decidido hacer lo mismo este año – Así me empujo a mejorar y superarme como fotógrafa.

Muchos creativos hacen un proyecto 365 (subir una imagen cada día durante un año), pero yo no llego a hacer tanto! Mi día a día me reclame demasiado aún – Tal vez el año que viene… ;-)

De ahí que empezamos con la mejor foto del mes de Enero …

Enero: First Night Session 2015

He elegido esta foto dado que ha sido fruto no solamente de la primera sesión del año, sino también de la primera sesión NOCTURNA y que me divertí muchísimo en crearla.

One of my resolutions from last year was to choose my best image from each month and post them here on my blog. This personal project was christened ’12 x 2014′ and as I found it a useful ploy to dedicate more time to photography and to keep bettering myself as a photographer, I have decided to do the same thing this year.

Many artists do a 365 project but unfortunately, daily life needs to loosen its grip on me first before I can do that – Maybe next year ;-)

Let’s get the ball rolling by starting off with my favourite image from January …

January: First Night Session 2015

I have chosen this photo as it was not only the result of my first session of 2015, but also it was taken during the first NIGHT session as well. That coupled with the fact that I enjoyed myself immensely creating it, made this picture a winner for me.

Aquí tenemos a Javier, una persona maja y risueña…Y, ¿ a que no parece ? Que fácil es engañar con la fotografía y transmitir algo distinto con solamente estas tres cosas: La luz, el fondo y la mirada.

Here’s a picture of Javier, a friendly, funny individual…Yet this picture seems to state otherwise, doesn’t it?!

It’s amazing just how easy it is to convey something completely different with just the light, the background and the look in our eyes.

El sábado pasado tuve la suerte de asistir una master class de dos horitas de retrato fotográfico impartido por el fotógrafo, Javier Gayet.

Aquí os dejo las fotos que hice de Lucía, una joven bailarina de hip-hop que ofreció hacer de modelo. Una vez preparadas las luces de estudio, la idea era que no disponíamos que mucho tiempo y que solamente nos quedaba una o dos fotos en el ‘carrete’ – Difícil cuando dispones de una cámara digital y varias tarjetas de memoria…Lo digital nos tiene a todos mal acostumbrados!

Al final terminé con tres tomas parecidas ;-)

Last Saturday I was luck enough to assist a 2-hour Master Class on studio portrait photography given by the photographer, Javier Gayet.

Here are the pictures I took of Lucía, a young hip-hop dancer who had kindly offered to pose for us. Once we had prepared the studio lighting, the idea was that we only had one or two photos left on the ‘film’ and little time to take them in – Something increasingly difficult to remember and adhere to in today’s digital age – We’ve all been spoilt by digital cameras and huge memory cards!

I ended up with three similar shots ;-)
